On Wednesday, the Rural Development Minister K. Mrunalini announced that the State government would construct G+ 3 buildings in Vijayawada and Machilipatnam to provide an affordable housing for slum dwellers and urban poor. She said that about 300 houses would be constructed in the first phase.
Ms. Mrunalini on Wednesday accorded administrative sanction for the first phase of G+ 3 building project to be taken up in Vijayawada (East) Assembly constituency after reviewing the rural and urban housing schemes being implemented by the State government. Ms. Mrunalini added that the G+3 buildings comprising 1,850 houses will be built in Machilipatnam.
The Krishna district Zilla Parishad’s resolution on allowing construction of houses in 600 sq.ft. under various housing schemes of the State government has been rejected by Ms. Mrunalini.
Ms. Mrunalini said that the existing housing schemes do not allow construction of houses above 400 sft as they are meant for the poor. The government will not sanction Rs. 1.6 lakh financial aid if extent of area exceeds 400 sq.ft
Although, the Minister has promised to bring the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
On this occasion, Zilla Parishad chairperson G. Anuradha and Pedana MLA K. Venkata Rao were also present.
