Asara Yojana UP Govt. to Provide Big Houses for Poor

Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide big size houses under Asara Yojana to the slums and minority-dominated municipalities of UP. The government has made some changes in the size of Asara scheme.

The government will increase the size of houses from 18 square meters to 22 square meters. Besides Asara Yojana, the UP government has also introduced Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to affordable houses to the urban poor.

The main aim of Asara Yojana is to provide low-cost residential houses to the beneficiaries while Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has also been introduced with the same objective. Both schemes are implementing under the supervision of the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA).

Actually, the state government had already requested to the provide financial assistance for Asara Yojana. In this regard, UP officials presented this issue in a meeting with the Central officials to attach this scheme with PMAY Scheme.

As per the information, Centre officials had suggested if the size of Asara Yojana houses is changed according to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana then the central government will provide financial assistance to this scheme related to the PM Awas Yojana.

In this regard, the SUDA had prepared a proposal to the instructions of the City Development Department, which has been approved.

Finally, after making this changes the central government will provide an additional amount of Rs 1.50 lakh per house for the Asha Yojana. This will allow constructing more houses under this scheme.
