Good news for the residents of Bhubaneswar, the state government has decided to construct one lakh houses for economically weaker sections (EWS) and lower income groups (LIG) by 2022 under Housing for All in Urban Areas, a policy which was drafted in 2015. This news was released by Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo on Wednesday.
Singhdeo stressed the importance of transparency in real estate sector. While Speaking at a workshop on Affordable Housing and Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA). He said the implementation of RERA Act would bring discipline in the housing sector.
He also said the rules in the Act will benefit all stakeholders and accelerate the real estate sector’s growth and increase its share in the State’s economy.
In this regard, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary H&UD Department G Mathivathanan said the regulations in RERA Act are applicable to all commercial and residential real estate projects on a plot measuring 500 SQ meters or more or comprising eight or more apartments.
Besides, he said the Act also provide a facility of grievances and a deadline of 60 days for disposal of appeals and grievances from the day of filing of the application
Sachin R Yadav Director of Housing said that the successful implementation of rental housing for migrant lab laborers exhorted developers to work along with the Government agencies to address urban housing needs in the State.
