After a time period of seven months, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnavis and Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari announced a new affordable housing scheme for Nagpur. The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has initiated work on this scheme.
In Nagpur city, the scheme (PM Awas Yojana Nagpur) of giving a home to the poor at affordable rates is being given a connotation. The house will be available to the poor for 2.5 lakh rupees. Socially backward and citizens living below the poverty line will be given home with special priority.
The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has introduced two major pro-poor schemes. Under these schemes, around 16,000 affordable housing units will be constructed for economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income group (LIG) families. Besides this, the residents of 52 slums will be provided ownership documents.
