A good news for the residents of Chandigarh because Chandigarh Housing Board has finally decided to launch a new affordable housing scheme for lower income group and economically weaker sections. The CHB new housing scheme will be launched under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
According to the sources, CHB Board said the scheme would be launched soon after the completion of demand survey. The registration process of the scheme will be started soon and the application will be available at the CHB office and on the official website of the board.
Board Chairman Maninder Singh Bains informed that the under the scheme, a demand survey will be started very soon for the residents belonging to the LIG and EWS on a no-profit-no-loss basis. For proper implementation of the scheme, Chandigarh Administration has appointed the CHB as the nodal agency.
According to the scheme, only those people will be eligible for the scheme whose annual income will be up to Rs. 3 lakh for applying under EWS category. On another hand for applying LIG category, the applicant’s annual income should be between Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh. Under the scheme, the cost of a flat in the LIG category will be from Rs 10 to 15 lakh while it will be half the amount for the EWS category.
However, the residents of the city were demanding for affordable housing for a long time and finally, CHB has decided to launch an affordable housing scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
At present, the modalities of the scheme are being worked out. The size of the flats and the final cost will be decided soon. But the cost of the flats will be reasonable for both EWS and LIG category. The flats will be constructed up to the fourth story.
