DDA 1981 Rohini Scheme allottees protest for providing basic facilites
Once again DDA has failed to provide the allotment on time to the allottees of DDA’s 1981 Rohini scheme. Many allottees of 1981 Rohini scheme staged a protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.
The allottees claimed that the land-owning agency has not completed the work of basic infrastructure such as electricity, water, sewer etc. Due to the lacks of basic infrastructure, the allottees are not ready to start the construction work on the site.
According to the orders of Supreme Court, last year DDA had started the allotment of Rohini 1981 scheme plots to the 11,000 odd allottees and about 1,400 allottees will be given the plots this year.
The Secretary of Rohini Residential Scheme 1981 Rajkumar Jain said that how can I construct my house when there is no water, electricity or sewer. He has also said that DDA has cheated us, he had deposited close to Rs 15 lakh last year for the plot.
However, the allottees are also saying that the DDA officials are unwilling to address their problems and are “unnecessarily complicating the process”. “Why can’t they just simplify it? Most of the allottees are old. Now that we have deposited the money, they should help people settle in the area. The protesters want the government to direct DDA to start development work on sewer and water pipeline and construct approach roads.
