The Delhi Development Authority is considering about its new housing scheme to construct more than 16,000 houses in Delhi. This is very difficult to solve the problem of housing in the city. Actually, the city needs 24 lakh additional dwellings by 2021.
According to the Delhi Master Plan, the DDA is able to construct only 11.69 lakh housing units of EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG in all five zones of the city.
However, the development agency has already identified the sites and the agency has been asked to start the implementation of the project. The price of these housing units is yet to be finalized.

According to the sources, of these16,584 flats around 5,000 houses will be available under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and 6,000 under the High Income Group (HIG) category. DDA construct 5,000 houses under the Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) housing categories respectively.
The latest housing project will cover up the area of Vasant Kunj, Preet Vihar, Dwarka, Rohini, Mandawali, Phazulpur, and Khichdipur. In order to attract the real buyers, the agency is planning to remove the clauses of the five-year lock-in.
Recently, the DDA has all set to launch its new housing scheme 2017 on 26 January 2017. In this scheme, DDA is offering total 13,000 flats. Of these 13,000 flats, about 10,000 flats were returned by the allottees of 2014 housing scheme. But this time authority has decided to re-allot these flats in next year and the registration money for them has also been increased to Rs 3 lakh for LIG and Rs 5 lakh for MIG houses.
A senior official said that the project is still in its planning stage and no deadline has been set so far. The entire project will come as a part of thoroughly thought-out housing society at par with the Dwarka housing society.
According to the officials, the respective chief engineers have been asked to prepare a detailed project report Besides, the officials have been asked to prepare initial project estimates and initiate the project immediately. Once the project reports have been submitted, we will seek permissions from various departments.
