The Delhi Development Authority will construct 2,800 residential flats to rehabilitate thousands of slums in Katputli colonies. DDA officials said that the work to rehabilitate slums was started way back in 2010 after a census was conducted and the DDA entering into an agreement with Raheja Builders to construct flats.
The Principal Commissioner of DDA Mr. J P Aggarwal said that keeping in a view the artistic nature of Katpulti colony residents, Raheja has ensured them they will create two theaters in the 40 percent of their area
Aggarwal said that they need Katputli area vacant in order to start out leveling work there. Around 1,150 families have been shifted to Anand Parbat Transit camp.
DDA officials said that the construction work of Katpulti colonies will start in the upcoming March. Aggarwal said that the work will start once people vacate the place. The authority is concerned about the people living there. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order
DDA will construct 70 thousand flats in different places of the city under slum rehabilitation program. DDA official said that the construction work will start in March month.
The official said that the 60 percent Floor Area Ration (FAR) of these flats will remain with the DDA while 40 per cent of the share will be of the builder. He also said that around 2,641 families were living in the colony.
A public-private partnership (PPP) has been launched under the DDA’s Slum Rehabilitation Scheme, as part of a larger plan called the Delhi Master Plan 2021. The slum dwellers are to be relocated to a transit camp for two years, during which period, Raheja Builders would construct 1 BHK houses with modern facilities and on completion, they will be located back to their original residence.
J P Aggarwal said that the development work cannot begin until everyone is shifted. In order to maintain the law and order with clear instructions to ensure that the residents do not indulge in violence, police are also available there.
