A new housing scheme is going to launch in Thiruvananthapuram at Muttathara. This new housing project is to launch to rehabilitate fishermen families who lost their homes in coastal areas like Valiyathura due to sea erosion.

However, this decision was taken in a meeting on Monday in the presence of Fisheries director S Karthikeyan, councilors Beemapally Rasheed, Sheeba Patrick, Noorjahan, other officials of the department

According to the information, the new housing scheme will be implemented on 3.5 acres of land which was handed over to fisheries department near sewage farm, Valiyathura.

At present about 20 families have been staying in school classrooms for more than five years after they had been shifted to schools as part of rescue measures.

This problem had become so difficult when the government has ordered the councillors to find an appropriate land for launching the housing scheme.
