Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority has started the process of providing affordable housing for needy people. According to the survey report, about 75,000 applications have been received by MHADA. This information is provided by Customer Care Department.
This scheme was announced by Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi in 2014 for providing housing for all by 2022 with the help of central government. In this scheme, the government will provide 320 square feet. house for all needy people. In order to implement the announcement of Prime Minster, in 2015 the Maharashtra State has given the responsibility MHADA to construct 11 lakh house in the state. In this regard, the MHADA had promised to construct 10,000 house for Economical Weaker Section in the city and suburb till 2017.
For this, MHADA had started a survey process from 1 July to 31 to know the demand of houses in the city. This survey was done in Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, Bhivandi, Meera Road areas of Mumbai City. As per the survey reports, 45,000 houses demand has come to the MHADA.
The Customer Care Officer of MHADA said that MHADA had started the survey in May under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to know the exact demand of houses in the city, but due to lack of response of people, this process was started from 1 July to 31 by providing the scheme information door to door. After this, around 45,000 people applied under the scheme. Till now about 75,000 applications have been received by MHADA. In order to implement the scheme, the first lottery of 10,000 houses will be released in March 2017.
