Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is the most ambitious housing project of Central government which was launched for constructing two crore houses by 2022 across the country. Currently, the government has targeted to built 51 lakh houses in 2017-18 under PM Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).
This way, the government will sure achieve its target to construct one crore houses by 2019 under PM Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G). Along with this, the government is also trying to reduce the building time to 6-12 months from 18 months to 3 years earlier.
According to the reports, about 32 have been completed in FY17 and 18 lakh in FY16. However, PM Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) in November 2016 by changing the name of Indira Awas Yojana.
In order to achieve the target, the government has allocated Rs. 15,000 crore budget for the scheme. Besides, the government has also doubled the allocation per household from Rs 75,000 to over Rs 1,20,000 along with the house size from 22 to 25 square meters.
In this regard, a senior government official said that our main focus is to speed up construction properly and prevent the money from any misuse. Under the revised scheme 15,000 houses have been constructed so far.
At the various stages of the construction to ensure the fast construction and verification every house is to be geo -referenced along with time and date on photographs
According to the source, recently government surveyed 3.92 crore houses and as per Socio-Economic and Caste Census data 2011 to find 2.26 crore households eligible for the scheme. The main target is to construct 3 crore houses for rural poor in the next 7 years.
