On 25 Sep 2017 – After the launch, a series of the schemes the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a new most awaited scheme “Sobhagya Yojana” in New Delhi under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana on the anniversary of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. This is a new scheme which is specially launched for poor people.
Sobhagya Yojana Objective:
The main objective of this scheme is to provide electricity to every village, every household in every city. The target is to complete it till March 31, 2019. This scheme is launched on the anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyay. This scheme also named as Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana.
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana Benefits:
This scheme is launched with an aim to provide electricity to all the households in rural and urban areas. The benefits of this scheme is given below.
- Free Electricity Connection for Urban & Rural Poor People Registered in SECC-2011.
Free Electricity Connection will be Given on the Basis of Socio-Economic and Caste Census of 2011
Electricity Connection also Available for Other People on Payment of Just Rs. 500/-.
This Amount will be Taken in 10 Installments as Electricity Bills.
Under this scheme, the government will also provide battery bank to the deprived houses in remote and inaccessible areas. It has a 200 to 300 WP Solar Power Pack, which includes five LED lights, a DC fan, a DC power plug and repairs for 5 years.

Sobhagya Yojana Total Budget:
The government has estimated a total budget of Rs 16,320 crore for this scheme. The government has also made a provision of Rs 12,320 crore of government assistance.
