According to the latest news, the state government of Tamil Nadu has announced to launch a separate housing scheme for fishermen.
In this regard, the South Asian Fishermen Fraternity (SAFF) has appreciated the state government’s decision and General Secretary of SAFF Fr. Churchill thanked the government’s gesture on the construction of 5,000 individual houses for them.
As per the decision, about 5000 individual houses for fishermen, but Churchill said that a quality house could not be constructed at Rs. 1.70 lakh.
However, under the Green House Scheme houses were constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.10 lakh and this should also be extended for Fishermen Housing Scheme.
