TNSCB Kumananchavadi Housing Project – TNSCB, the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) is going to build a total number of 288 housing units at Kurumanchavadi under its TNSCB Kurumanchavadi Housing Project. These housing units will be constructed at an expense of 23.43 Crore Rupees. TNSCB has decided to construct these housing units under the Central Government’s ambitious housing scheme, i.e. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Recently, the Government Chief Whip Thamarai S. Rajendran, District Revenue Officer S. Dhanasekaran and senior officials of TNSCB, Revenue and Ariyalur Municipality. Mr. Rajendran laid down the foundation of the construction work by conducting “Bhoomi Puja”.
According to the information provided by the Executive Engineer of TNSCB, Mr. S. Suresh, recently, a survey was conducted by the Ariyalur Municipality on behalf of TNSCB. As per the survey, there was a total number of 2,512 families living in encroached lands. However, these lands are owned by the government along the roadsides, temple boundaries and water bodies in Ariyalur. Also, some of these families were living in rental houses.

Moreover, these families have been marked to be urban poor and economically weaker sections (EWS). Thus, for providing them a permanent shelter, the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board would build 288 tenements in the first phase.

According to Executive Engineer Mr. Suresh, under this housing project, a ground – plus – three-story building would be constructed. Besides the housing unit will consists of a reception hall, a bedroom, kitchen, toilet and bathroom with a built-up area of 400 square feet. Also, other facilities including roads and sewerage channel would also be provided
Also, he also informed that the Central and the State Government will jointly implement this housing project with the participation of selected beneficiaries. Under this housing project, a contribution of Rs. 85,000 will have to be made by the selected beneficiaries under this scheme.
