Telangana Govt. Sanctioned 95,000 More 2BHK Houses


The Telangana State Government has approved 1,000 more 2BHK Housing Units for each 95 Assembly constituencies outside the GHMC area.

As per the officials, these housing units are in addition to 1,400 houses each sanctioned already to the constituencies outside GHMC limits.

On Saturday, the Special Chief Secretary (Housing) Chitra Ramachandran issued the orders according to the permission for construction of 95,000 2BHK Housing Units, 1,000 each to 95 constituencies, under the weaker section housing program.

The orders further stated that the ratio between rural and urban areas shall be 240:160 if the constituency has both rural and urban areas.

The Housing Department will avail funds under PM Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) & Housing for All program for urban areas and it would be dovetailed to the 95,000 houses.

The housing scheme will be implemented by the District Collectors in both rural and urban areas.

The Commissioner of Weaker Section Housing Programme has been advised to approach the government for the release of subsidy from out of the budget provision for 2017-18 as and when the need arises depending on the pace of construction of the sanctioned houses.

The Telangana State Housing Corporation Ltd’s Managing Director has been directed to take necessary action from sanctioning process to accessing funds from the funding agencies concerned for completion of the 95,000 houses sanctioned in coordination with the District collectors.
